Gumera Aboriginal Care

Gumera Aboriginal Care is a culturally focused residential care program dedicated to supporting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and young people. Our program is designed to provide a safe, nurturing environment that respects and celebrates the rich cultural heritage of the children in our care.

Cultural Connection: At the heart of Gumera Aboriginal Care is a commitment to maintaining and strengthening the cultural identity of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children. We provide opportunities for cultural education, traditional practices, and community connections, ensuring that each child remains connected to their heritage.

Holistic Care: Our approach is holistic, addressing the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of the children and young people in our care. We offer tailored support that considers their unique experiences, ensuring they receive the care and guidance needed to heal, grow, and thrive.

Community Engagement: We work closely with Elders, community leaders, and local organisations to create a support network that honours the cultural values and traditions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities. This collaboration helps us provide care that is not only supportive but also culturally appropriate.

Healing and Empowerment: Gumera Aboriginal Care focuses on creating a healing environment where children and young people can feel safe, valued, and empowered. We offer therapeutic services, educational support, and life skills training to help them build confidence and prepare for a bright future.

Family and Kinship Support: We prioritise maintaining strong connections with family and kin, recognising the importance of these relationships in the lives of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children. Whenever possible, we work to reunite children with their families and provide support to strengthen these bonds.

Gumera Aboriginal Care is committed to providing culturally sensitive, compassionate care that honours the identities and traditions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and young people, helping them build strong, resilient futures.
