Family Kinect

The Family Kinect Program at Lighthouse Child and Family Services is specifically designed to support young mothers in care and their babies, offering them the guidance, resources, and stability they need to thrive together. Our program is dedicated to helping young mums in care navigate the unique challenges of parenthood while ensuring their children grow up in a nurturing and loving environment.

Parenting Education and Support: We provide tailored parenting education that addresses the specific needs of young mothers in care. Our workshops cover essential topics such as child development, nutrition, healthcare, and positive parenting practices. We aim to equip young mums with the confidence and skills necessary to care for their babies and support their healthy development.

Emotional and Social Support: Recognising the emotional complexities faced by young mums in care, we offer personalised counselling and peer support groups. These safe, supportive environments allow young mothers to share their experiences, connect with others who understand their journey, and build strong, supportive networks.

Health and Wellness Services: The Family Kinect Program ensures that both young mums and their babies have access to comprehensive health and wellness services. From regular health check-ups to immunisation support and nutritional guidance, we focus on the well-being of both mother and child.

Life Skills and Personal Development: We empower young mothers in care to build a secure future for themselves and their children by providing life skills training, educational opportunities, and career guidance. Whether they’re pursuing education or preparing for employment, we offer the resources and support they need to achieve their aspirations.

Safe and Stable Housing: Ensuring that young mothers in care have a safe and stable living environment is a top priority. We assist with securing appropriate housing and offer ongoing support to maintain a secure home, which is crucial for the well-being of both mother and child.

Community Integration: We encourage young mums in care to engage with their communities, helping them establish a network of support and access local resources. This sense of belonging and community connection is vital for their long-term success and the well-being of their children.

The Family Kinect Program is committed to empowering young mothers in care, helping them build strong, positive foundations for themselves and their children, and ensuring they have the support they need to create a loving and nurturing environment.
